Mission

TUMI Health Sciences Research is committed to promoting and disseminating scientific knowledge in the field of health sciences. Its purpose is to foster rigorous academic production by professionals, researchers, and students from Peru and abroad, who are dedicated to advancing medicine and public health. Through the periodic publication of original articles, reviews, brief communications, case reports, and other scientific contributions, the journal seeks to strengthen biomedical research, continuing medical education, and clinical practice grounded in the best available evidence.

Aims and Scope

TUMI Health Sciences Research is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal dedicated to advancing excellence in health sciences research. We welcome high quality contributions that address critical issues across the full spectrum of the health sciences, including medicine, dentistry, nursing, public health, biomedical sciences, pharmacology, psychology, and health education.

The journal accepts a wide array of article types, reflecting the diversity of scientific communication in the health field:

TUMI Health Sciences Research does not base editorial decisions on the perceived impact, novelty, or media appeal of a submission. Instead, all manuscripts are evaluated solely on the basis of their scientific rigor, clarity of research questions, methodological soundness, adherence to internationally recognized ethical principles, and compliance with accepted standards of scholarly integrity.

Peer Review Policy

Publication Ethics

TUMI Health Sciences Research upholds the highest standards of research and publication ethics. The journal follows the principles and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).

All research involving human participants must comply with the ethical principles outlined in the Declaration of Helsinki (World Medical Association, latest revision). Studies involving animals must follow internationally recognized standards for animal welfare, such as the ARRIVE guidelines and the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.

All submitted manuscripts must be original and free from plagiarism, data fabrication, image manipulation, redundant or duplicate publication, and undeclared conflicts of interest. Ethical approval from an appropriate institutional review board (IRB) or ethics committee is mandatory for human and animal studies, and informed consent must be obtained and documented when applicable.

Any allegations of misconduct will be investigated promptly and addressed according to international ethical guidelines, which may include correction, retraction, or notification to relevant authorities and funding bodies.

Editorial Policies

The journal operates under transparent and rigorous editorial policies designed to ensure fairness, integrity, and efficiency throughout the peer review and publication process. Editorial decisions are based solely on the scientific merit, methodological quality, and relevance of the work, without influence from commercial or personal relationships. Open Access Policy

TUMI Health Sciences Research is an open access journal, making all published articles freely and permanently available online immediately upon publication. No subscription or registration is required to access the content. Our open access policy is based on the principle that free and unrestricted access to scientific knowledge accelerates discovery, fosters innovation, and promotes equitable participation in research.

Article Processing Charges (APC)

To sustain high-quality editorial and production processes, TUMI Health Sciences Research applies an Article Processing Charge (APC) of USD 150 for accepted manuscripts. This fee covers peer review management, professional copyediting, DOI assignment, long-term archiving, and online hosting.

  • No submission fees are charged.

  • APCs are only payable after acceptance.

  • Waivers or discounts may be considered for authors from low-income countries or under exceptional circumstances.

Copyright and Licensing

Authors publishing in TUMI Health Sciences Research retain the full copyright of their work and grant the journal the right of first publication. All content is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.

Authors may enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the published version of the work (e.g., depositing it in an institutional repository or including it in a book), with an acknowledgment of its initial publication in this journal.

Accepted Languages

The journal accepts manuscripts written exclusively in English.

Digital Preservation Policy

Long-term preservation of published content is ensured through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) integrated into the OJS platform.

Data Availability Statement

Authors are encouraged to make the data supporting their findings publicly available, either by depositing them in open repositories or providing them upon reasonable request, in line with best practices in open science.

Conflict of Interest

All authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest by completing the ICMJE Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form. The procedure and access to the form are detailed in the journal’s Instructions for Authors.
