Origin and Meaning of the Name TUMI

The name TUMI refers to the ceremonial knife associated with ancient Andean civilizations and recognized as a symbol of knowledge, healing, precision, and cultural heritage. Beyond its historical significance, the TUMI represents the pursuit of scientific excellence, the transmission of knowledge, and the transformative role of research in improving human health.

Inspired by this legacy, TUMI Health Sciences Research promotes scientific innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the responsible dissemination of knowledge in medicine and the health sciences. Published by the Latin American Society of Medical Sciences and based in Peru, the journal embraces the values represented by the TUMI: integrity, precision, service, and commitment to human health.

Mission

TUMI Health Sciences Research is committed to promoting and disseminating rigorous, ethical, and socially relevant scientific knowledge in medicine and the health sciences. Through the publication of original research, systematic reviews, clinical studies, case reports, methodological contributions, and other scholarly works, the journal seeks to strengthen evidence-based healthcare, interdisciplinary collaboration, scientific education, and informed decision-making.

Vision

To become a recognized multidisciplinary scientific journal in Latin America, distinguished by its editorial rigor, commitment to open access, research integrity, and contribution to the international dissemination of high-quality evidence in medicine and the health sciences.

Aims and Scope

TUMI Health Sciences Research is an international, multidisciplinary, open-access, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing excellence in medicine and health sciences research. The journal accepts original research articles, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, methodological and technical reports, case reports and case series, and letters to the editor.

TUMI Health Sciences Research does not base editorial decisions on the perceived impact, novelty, or media appeal of a submission. Manuscripts are evaluated according to their scientific rigor, clarity of objectives, methodological soundness, ethical compliance, validity of the findings, and adherence to accepted standards of scholarly integrity.

Further information is available in the Aims and Scope section.

Peer Review Policy

All manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure objectivity, methodological quality, and scientific relevance.
